Lean, Mean and Green

Lean, Mean and Green

You can’t swing a gavel in the legal world without hitting information about how to better ‘go green.”  By now you’ve probably done the basics: recycle Check!,  scan more than print, check!, upgrade to latest green technology?, huh?

Like the Time Bucket analysis purports as I wrote about last month HERE.

You have to ask yourself the question: Will upgrading to this new technology increase my workflow and lower my costs? If the answer is yes, here’s some tips for getting to the greener side.

MULTIPLY YOUR MONITORS:

When the time comes, it’s best to replace that old monitor to an energy-efficient flat screen LCD monitor.

You can check out the latest and greatest models here -www.pcworld.com and www.pcmag.com.

Ever consider the dual monitor? This way you can compare docs side by side, so you can reduce unnecessary printing jobs and save time by keeping a working document open on one screen while your calendar or billing programs are open on the other.  Goodbye “minimizing” documents, hello efficiency! More on this from my other post here.

Green gadgets:

There are many green supplies you can purchase for your from hanging files to highlighters, storage boxes to staplers. Visit the virtual Green Office for all your green office needs.

Scanner twin powers activate:

Perhaps you’ve started going paperless by scanning more than printing, that’s a great step in the right direction. The next step would be to add desktop scanners to supplement your centralized scanners. More about scanners in my earlier post here.

Now a quick scan can also eliminate trips to the bank. With www.DepositNow.com, you can scan your checks directly into your business account.  Most local banks will give you a desktop scanner so you can deposit from the comfort of your own office.  Just think with all the time saved in those annoying bank lines, you might just have time for another round of golf (or two.)
